Privacy Policy for YuanLi

1. Overview

YuanLi is a Chinese lunar calendar and reminder app. It helps users view lunar dates and set reminders for friend birthdays, memorial dates, god days, and lunar 1st / 15th days.

This Privacy Policy explains what information YuanLi collects, how it is used, and the choices available to users.

2. Information We Collect

YuanLi may collect or store the following information:

• Personal reminder details that you enter, such as friend names, birthday dates, memorial names, and memorial dates.
• Your selected app language and reminder settings.
• A device notification token used to send reminder notifications through Firebase Cloud Messaging.
• A generated device key used to recognize the same app installation for reminder syncing.
• Basic technical information needed for app operation, such as app version, platform, and notification delivery status.

YuanLi does not require you to create an account. Please avoid entering sensitive personal information that is not needed for reminders.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information above to:

• Show your saved birthdays, memorial dates, and reminder dates in the app.
• Send reminder notifications for selected dates.
• Sync reminder settings with the YuanLi server so notifications can be sent even when the app is not open.
• Support backup and restore features selected by the user.
• Improve reliability, prevent duplicate notifications, and deactivate invalid notification tokens.

4. Local Storage and Cloud Sync

YuanLi stores your reminder data locally on your device so the app can continue to work even when there is no internet connection.

When internet access is available, YuanLi may sync your reminder data and notification settings to the YuanLi server. This allows server-based notification reminders to be sent through Firebase Cloud Messaging.

If a sync fails while offline, the app may try again later when internet access is available.

5. Notifications

YuanLi asks for notification permission before sending reminder notifications. Notifications may include reminder names and dates, such as a friend birthday, memorial date, god day, or lunar 1st / 15th reminder.

You can disable notifications in the app settings or through your device system settings.

6. Backup and Restore

YuanLi may allow users to export and restore reminder data. If you choose to create a backup, the backup file may contain your saved reminder names, dates, and settings.

If password protection is used for backup and restore, you are responsible for keeping the password safe. We cannot restore a forgotten backup password.

7. Advertising

YuanLi may display advertisements using Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use device identifiers, advertising identifiers, approximate location, app activity, and other data according to Google's advertising policies.

You can manage ad personalization through your device settings and Google account settings where available.

8. Third-Party Services

YuanLi may use the following third-party services:

• Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, for push notification delivery.
• Google AdMob, for displaying advertisements.
• Google Play services, for Android platform services required by ads and notifications.

These services may process data according to their own privacy policies and terms.

9. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal reminder data. Data may be shared only when necessary to provide app functionality, such as sending notifications through Firebase Cloud Messaging or displaying ads through AdMob.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the security and integrity of the app.

10. Data Retention

Reminder data may remain on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Server-synced notification data may be retained while your device remains active.

If notification delivery repeatedly fails, the server may mark the device as inactive to avoid unnecessary notification attempts.

11. Your Choices

You may:

• Edit or delete saved birthdays and memorial dates in the app.
• Turn reminder types on or off in the app settings.
• Disable notifications in your device settings.
• Delete local app data by uninstalling the app or clearing app storage.
• Contact us to request deletion of server-synced notification data where applicable.

12. Children's Privacy

YuanLi is not intended for children under 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

13. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect synced reminder data. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
